This album features traditional Yup'ik (Inuit) singing and druming, an ancient form of theatrical expression and storytelling from southwestern Alaska. Drums of the North is the first strictly traditional Yup'ik album ever produced. This is Pamyua's fourth album and it's sure to be as successful as their previous three. Back to the roots. "Dancing makes you happy and makes you feel better with every movement. This tradition is alive and thriving with dances being composed every day." - Stephen Blanchett, Singer, Drummer and Dancer. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - DISCOGRAPHY 2005, Drums of the North 2003, Caught in the Act 2001, Verses 1998, Mengluni Caught in the Act, Verses and Mengluni have all reached number one on the TOP-10 chart of album sales in Alaska. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - AWARDS 2003 Record of the Year - "Caught in the Act", NAMMY 2003 Top Ten Rising Stars - Native Peoples Magazine 2000 Top Ten Alaskan Artist of the Century - Anchorage Daily News NOMINATIONS 2003 Group of the Year - Native American Music Awards, (NAMMY) 2003 Best Pop/Rock Recording - "Caught in the Act", NAMMY 2001 Best World Music Album - "Verses", NAMMY - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Check out the artist's website: http://www.pamyua.com Track List: 1.
