"EPISODE" (Gor Music) is Gor Mkhitarian's self-produced 3rd album written and recorded entirely in the United States. Joining the wave of Armenian immigrants who settled in the Los Angeles, CA area in the past decade, Mkhitarian's newest offering is a window into the life and times of an artist who reflects on his past while yearning for the future. Mkhitarian resists littering the album with cliched themes and instead focuses once again on original ideas and themes. The sound lies somewhere in between "Yeraz" (Pomegranate Music) and "Godfather Tom" (Pomegranate Music), with the addition of an accordion, keyboards, and an even more expansive sound. The sonic quality is fist rate.

What is immediately striking in this album is the issue of isolation and longing as evidenced with "Wherever", "Stigma", and "90 Days". Other songs such as " Cold Wagon 1993" and "Me and My Country" reveal the hardships and challenges his Armenian identity has created for him. "EPISODE" is Mkhitarian's most accessable album to date, with a breezy melancholy throughout the recording. This album exhibits the same mature and refective tone that have been Mkhitarian's trademark, albeit with the new setting within the LA/Hollywood landscape. In the end, the artist doesn't sell out. Mkhitarian fans would have it no other way.
