The Celtic/Folk group 'MicheMalou' was formed in autumn 2000 and features two harps, guitar/bass guitar, and bodhran.

Marie-Louise Norton (Swiss) and Michele Cook (American) had both played together in another harp ensemble with which they had recorded a CD. They had the desire to start something new, and out of this desire 'MicheMalou' was born. Michele and Marie-Louise share the 'lead' harp duties.

They have enlisted the help of Colin Norton (British) on bass guitar, guitar and percussion. Colin has a long musical history. He used to be a professional drummer with many different formations and has toured extensively in England, Scotland, Germany and Switzerland.

Gavin Norton (British) is a composer who has joined the trio full-time after several guest appearances. He plays the bodhran and other percussion instruments, as well as keyboards .

MicheMalou chose their music carefully to include pieces from Ireland, Scotland, England, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, as well as America, combining it with their own original compositions. In fact, it's regular 'musical globetrotting!' With the addition of a Venus 'Aria' concert grand harp to the ranks of their Dusty Strings folk harps and Camac 'electroharp', and the purchase of a P.A. system, they are ready for almost any challenge, even some classical music; although there are definitely no plans to desert the folk harps at any time in the future.

They recorded a six track CD called 'Faire Spirit', which was released in October 2001, a full-length CD called 'Otherwhere Otherwhen', which includes three vocal tracks and was released in January 2003, and 'Snow on Snow', which includes six vocal tracks and was released in November 2004.

They are anything but a conventional group, as a look at their Website www.MicheMalou.com will reveal. They have not forsaken the traditions of Turlough O'Carolan but are bringing ancient music firmly into the 21st century. Although the regular line-up of MicheMalou features four members, there are occasions when they expand their ranks to include an extra guitarist, flautist, or even an alphorn player.

Reviews:

With so many things in the world, weighing people down today, MicheMalou is a much-needed elixir. The music is light and airy. This CD mixes tempo; it has both instrumentals and vocals, some well known others obscure to me. I played it for my wife on Valentine's day and it made a special night that much more special. I highly recommend this CD to anyone wanting to find that quiet happy place in their busy life. by Ed Jurica

Congratulations! Another great CD from MicheMalou. Cannot wait to hear the whole CD. Your music fills my heart and soul with joy and lifts my spirit. I am thoroughly enjoying your talents and your gift of music. A truly wonderful CD. by Marianne Macdonald

I lead a very stressful life and recently, a friend recommended I buy this CD. I have been listening to it constantly especially when I have had a particularly hard day. I especially liked tracks 'Tripping up the Stairs' and 'Scarborough Fair'. I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who likes Celtic or relaxing music. by Richard Jazzar

Find a sunny room, patio, or porch - get a glass of your favorite chardonnay and your significant other - and plan to have your spirits lifted! This is a wonderful, uplifting collection. If you don't feel better after listening to this, seek professional help. by Ted Dowell
