Michael John Daly was born December 12, 1932 in the Bronx, New York City. Michael was the first son and one the five children of Irish Immigrants, Father John Joseph Daly and Mother Catherine Murnane Daly of County Cork Ireland. Michael's boy soprano voice and singing were recognized early as a child by his parents and they encouraged him to sing at many school and local events in New York City. Although his parents were poor and had little extra money, they sacraficed and paid for song and dance lessons and greatly encouraged Michael's early voice development and singing interests. In 1944 Michael's parents left New York City with their 5 children and moved to a 116 acre farm in Trumansburg N. Y. Mr. Harold Barnard was Michael's voice teacher during his High School years. Mr. Barnard encouraged and instructed Michael to sing in many school, local and New York State Events and Competitions. Michael sang Danny Boy on radio in a Statewide Competition and won First Place. Michael also sang and competed in the Nationwide Arthur Godfrey Talent Contest. Michael served in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer during the
Korean War. Using the G.I. Bill he attended and graduated from Cornell University earning a Bachelor's Of Science Degree and a Master Of Education Degree. While at Cornell, Michael was a Member and a Soloist in the Cornell Men's Glee Club. His voice teacher was the well respected and highly acclaimed Mr. Thomas B. Tracy, Director of the Cornell Men's Glee Club. Mr. Tracy arranged and directed the Glee Club with Michael as Soloist, in the 1957 RCA Victor
recording of the great Irish Ballad The Rose of Tralee which is song
17 on Ireland From Glen To Glen. In 1957 Michael married Audreyann
Corde and they moved to Tampa Florida where they raised and graduated from College four children, Michael, Terence, Erin
and Andrea. Together Michael and Audrey founded Daly Aluminum Products Inc. which became one of the largest and most successful manufacturers of Specialty Aluminum Products in the world.
Throughout his business years, Michael continued to sing and give pleasure to many people, never forgetting the guidance of his parents and voice teachers and all others who encouraged him over the years. It was with that in mind that Michael decided to record an album of some of the most famous of all Irish songs and share his music with you and the many people throughout the world who love Irish Music.
