The Calling Birds Anne, Robbin, and Holly Crouthamel (23, 22, and 20) were homeschooled, and studied classical music on violins, piano, and viola from early ages. Their private music teachers included members of the teaching staffs of the Curtis Institute and the Juilliard School, as well as members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. They have won numerous scholarships and competitions, and performed as soloists with orchestras in NJ and PA. Several years ago, they discovered an interest in Celtic and American folk music and taught themselves to play the hammered and mountain dulcimers, guitar, drums, and quena. The girls' repertoire now includes their own arrangements of Celtic and American folk music, Christian music, classical music, and Robbin's original compositions. The girls perform at festivals, benefits, museums, churches, and private events. Anne, Robbin, and Holly have recorded four CDs, "In The Meadow", a collection of Celtic and American folk music, "Over The River and Through The Woods", a Christmas collection, "Wrens In The Thicket", a combination of Celtic music and Robbin's original compositions, and their latest CD, "A Thistledown Nest", all original compositions. The girls and their mother, Gail (the fourth bird!), started Four Calling Birds, Ltd. art and music studio in 1999. All four "birds" are self-taught artists who draw inspiration from many sources including nature, folk art from the 17th through 20th centuries, and designs from antique textiles and furnishings. Their handpainted, one-of-a-kind stretched canvases, floorcloths, fireboards, table runners, murals, and ornaments are rich in color and detail. They exhibit their work at shows and by appointment at their home studio. Their pieces have been featured in Country Home magazine, Early American Life magazine, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Upon invitation, they created an ornament for the Blue Room Christmas tree in the White House. The Four Calling Birds are listed in Early American Life's juried Directory of the Top 200 American Craftsmen. Check out the artist's website: http://www.fourcallingbirds.com Track List: 1.
