Acoustic Nuisance Acoustic Nuisance is an 'Alternative and Celtic Folk' band of ex-Brits and a Yankee drummer based in the Mt. Washington Valley of New Hampshire's White Mountains- Dave Armstrong from Perth, Scotland plays penny-whistles, uiellean pipes, banjo, guitar, bass-pedals(synthesizer), bouzouki and harmonica- often 2 or 3 instruments at a time, and sings too.... Simon Crawford from Dunfries, Scotland- sings and plays electric/acoustic guitars and guitar-synth..... John Devenau- hailing from Sudbury, Mass, John holds down the percussive duties- and also plays a pretty mean harmonica... and Kevin Dolan who’s London-Irish plays guitar, bouzouki, bodhran and sings- They play a great show with a different take on fine folk-songs, their originals and a little skaa, blues, and rock- and their latest cd 'Acoustic nuisance....'live!'' is a great reflection of their energetic, fun stage-show..... Read what March 2006 edition of 'Celtic Beat says: Acoustic Nuisance:Live! It was a subscriber that gave us this new CD from one of the Northeast USA's great "undiscovered" bands. And what a great band they are is manifested here. Among the three tunes that I was particularly impressed by was the opening cut "Mingaulay Boat Song." This was outstanding. Here as elsewhere the instrumentals and vocals are of top quality. Acoustic Nuisance steers the balanced middle ground, not going for a rote repetition of the vocal standards, and not going too far into the outer limits either instrumentally or vocally. Somebody has to occupy that middle ground, and Acoustic Nuisance does it superbly. Elsewhere here is a beautiful "Nancy Spain," and a haunting "Step It Out Mary." Kevin Dolan's "Oh To Be In Ireland" is poigniant indeed-a lot of Hiraeth here-powerfully underlined by the opening with the uillean pipes of Davey Armstrong. Perhaps one of the liveliest versions of the Robbie Burns/Christy Moore "Curragh of Kildare" is here. The CD finishes with a " Mairi's Wedding " that is the equal of or better than other renditions of same. This meanders off into an instrumental tour de force, but that's OK-because of the very quality of the instrumentals. From this live CD the " backwoods " of New Hampshire now has a great band and a great Celtic band. Live !
