With heavy emphasis on flute and didjeridoo, an ancient Australian horn, these fourteen songs are inspired by the couple's recent voyage to Australia. Written, arranged and performed by Martin & Scott, 'Primal Resonance' reflects the impact of the journey these two experienced on that continent through the blending of two of Earth's most ancient instruments (the flute and didjeridoo), along with keyboard and percussion. A mutual desire and fascination for 'the land down under' served as a primary catylyst in the artists' evolution through a five-week adventure. To the far north of Australia in the sacred sites of Arnhem Land they found 'didj' players pentiful and eager to share. Some favorite memories are of impromtu street corner 'busking' along with other players and percussionists. 'This alblum is entitled 'Primal Resonance' because we believe that it perfrectly describes what the sound of the didjeridoo is all about,' says Deborah Martin. The haunting resonance of Ms. Martin's voice lends its soothing qualities to three of the inspiring performances embodied within this collection. Her expertise in guitar, recorder and percussion are made evident throughout the entire collection of moving pieces. Preston Scott's natural connection with the didjeridoo became evident in 1996 after meeting an experienced player and 'didj' maker in Tucson. Soon after this encounter Martin and Scott embraced this new direction. Then her melodious flute began to float gracefully over Scott's keyboard, drum and percussion work and the deep and moving tones of his masterful didjeridoo technique.
