Mutavi Muema has defined the new reggae sound in Africa. Born in Kenya, he has moved to the US and kept the roots of his youth intact. His lyrics are unique and thoughtful. The sound of his CDs are very intimate and personal with the throbbing reggae beat that has taken over Africa. Mutavi chooses not to "play" with the dancehall temptation, he sticks to roots rock reggae. What better way to express his insightful observations on life and love. Although he was born in Kenya, nothing in the tracks marks this style as specifically African: The sound is straight up reggae.
