Portland Oregon-based Kukuva performs world dance music that is a vibrant blend of African influences. Captivating audiences with their complex rhythms and exuberant energy, Kukuva brings listeners to their feet to dance. Kukuva performs on beautiful hand-made instruments that produce warm wooden tones. Kukuva's ensemble is composed of soprano, tenor, baritone, and bass marimba, hand drums, and other ethnic instruments.

Together since the early 1990's, Kukuva is now 12 years old. A mainstay of the Pacific Northwest worldbeat music scene, Kukuva has performed at a wide variety of events and venues. Performance highlights include the Zimbabwe Music Festival (Seattle and Victoria BC), Newport Brew Festival (Newport, OR), Sand in the City (Portland, OR), and their self-produced Cosmic Marimba performance series. Other performance venues have included numerous colleges, civic events, city park concerts, theater and coffeehouse concerts, pubs, weddings, corporate and private parties. Kukuva has also donated performances to benefit many non-profit organizations and public schools.

Kukuva's debut CD Life is Good has received rave reviews and national sales. Nearly 1,000 copies of have been sold since it's release in January 2000. The project was recorded and mixed by Drew Canulette at Downstream Studios (Portland, OR). The CD is available in Pacific Northwest area stores and at CDBaby.com.
