Azuka of Afrika is an Afrobeat/dancehall musician a protege of late great afrobeat king Fela Anikulapo Kuti from Nigeria whom he grew up with and inspired by. In his early beginning as a kid Azuka began his musical pursuit at Fela's. He studied music and had a diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in London which Fela also studied from and at Five Towns College New York briefly.Azuka was at Fela's house ( "KALAKUTA republic" when the army attacked Fela and everybody have to run it was an experience he will never forget). Afrobeat music like reggae is a music brand that points out the social injustice that afrikans are experiencing from their own political leaders who dont seem to care for their sufferings instead many of them are just interested in stealing government funds ignoring the problems of the poor.Listen to the cut from his album"Wake Up Afrika" ; "We don tire"(meaning we are tired of problems in our society- no clean water, no food, no light) its an upbeat tempo with big horns, percussion and great melodic vocals. Azuka is taking afrobeat to a different level he has to since Fela is no longer here.Fela heard Azuka's style of afrobeat before he died and was very impressed. Read the "Beat" magazine of December 2004 where Azuka's was written about. Azuka currently has a video on satelite tv that is seen all over the globe. This Nigerian is out to put afrobeat on the world music scene just continueing where Fela stopped.Azuka's album is being released on the AFROGRAM RECORDS label.
