The Artist: With a flair for entertaining which emerged at an early age, King David was inspired to explore his musical talents while singing in the church choir. Born in Buffalo, New York as the son of an accomplished jazz musician, David was introduced to the bass guitar and jazz music through his father Leroy Johnson. This influence was nurtured and evolved into what is now, an awesome talent. He now makes his home in California where he has lived most of his life. His Inspiration: David considers all of Life to be the inspiration for his musical artistry. Life is his Muse and he embraces the positive and negative, the elevated and the abased. With this focal point for his craft, he creates a perfect balance within his soul and spirit, as well as a perfect union between God and His universe. Ultimately, this leads him to a deep sense of respect, honor and awe for the power of God's greatest creation...Mankind. His Vision: King David's passion is everything that promotes positive vibrations. His heart's desire is to touch upon and expand beyond all the boundaries in music and write songs that awaken every aspect of human emotions, awareness and love. His passion for performing before a live audience is driven by his love of people and the energy he gets from their response to his music. He extends this love beyond the arena of performing through service by mentoring young men and women, and educating adults through his M.H.B. (Mending Hearts, Healing Minds, Building Bodies) program. M.H.B. focuses on positive and critical thinking, self-awareness, healthy self-perception and physical well-being. This mode of contribution enables David to give value to lives of many who are often disenfranchised, using one of God's greatest gifts...music. His Artistic Resume: David has performed at various venues: the Ladera Club, Savannah West, China Beach, the Jazz Bakery, the 2002 Watts Summer Festival, and has hosted poetry venues with life's poetic voices. Film credits include performing the musical track in the movie "Bikini Summer II". Additionally, he was nominated for a LA Black Music Award, in the category of Best Spoken Word Performer-Male and he was chosen to go to New York to compete on the long running television series, Showtime at the Apollo.
