Before Tami Graves (born august 2, 1975) was discovered, she was a member of gospel choirs from middle school through high school in her native Brooklyn, New York. She performed on many stages including winning at the famous Apollo amateur Night in 1993. She won several honors including being a top ten finalist in the Daily News Lena Horne Scholarship, as a finalist she performed for the divine Lena Horne herself. Along with numerous performances she has done background vocals for Tonca & Friends, Recruits and Rolling Tones.

Tami's big break came while performing in Sint Maarten for a Jazz concert where she teamed up with songwriter/producer D'Niscio Brooks. (D'Niscio has produced for artists such as Tonca, Designer, Badd Boyz, Addie Aderson, Tony Thewet). D'Niscio took on the project of putting together this forthcoming album "desolately different".

Well, D'Niscio describes Tami as that inspirational voice that we've been hungering for. There are so many singers out there that just sing and no longer take us to that other place. He claims how he missed the warmth of singer Anita Baker's voice and how reminiscent Tami's style was of her yet so different. Tami is an artist if nothing else that is truly a reason why people like her.

Just what makes Tami desolately different. As so many put it the sweet music of her voice has such a texture that it can't help but compliment every ear that it sounds upon.

Tami is a singer that is perfect. Her timbre is in a class by itself she has such vocal prowess that it still astounds me that she has been overlooked this long. But with her long awaited debut schedule for release March 20, 2001. She is bound to be the talk at your next board meeting.
