Look in my Notebook is the end result of nothing less than complete musical re-incarnation. After getting burnt out on dealing with the politics that almost always coencide when several musicians collaborate, he decided to strike out on his own. But rather than persuing the same modern-rock sounds he had been, he instead focused on matching his lyrics to the new sounds he had been discovering using loop-based samples intertwined with live instrumentation. In retrospect Swizzel is confident the many changes made opened up new avenues not commonly available to all musicians-- "I was very nervous when I first decided to take on this new direction, but after finishing the EP and listening to it just in my discman a few times I realized just how much freedom it granted me lyrically allowing me the chance to explore topics, melodies and phrasing that would probably really never be too popular within the rock community ." Though his decision to "abandon" rock for greater expressive freedom often brought criticism from both close friends and family, the EP created quickly silenced many of the detractors while far surpassing the work he previously had been involved with. SwizzelStik's unconventional influences and unique background assure a unique listening experience. Every single track offers a different experience with no "filler-tracks" created just to take up space. SwizzelStik's unmatched brand of swaggering hip-hop/funk combines a melodic vocal style usually common to just singers, mixed with unusual wit, and one-of-a-kind delivery. All of these elements combine to form a cohesive and dynamic escape from the played-out cliche that has become much too common in modern urban music. Track List: 1. Cursing at Birth 2. Mortality 3.
