OTIS GOODNIGHT OAKLAND - Ushering in a new era of musical fusion, Otis Goodnight represents the best elements of East Bay sounds, blending acid-jazz, hip-hop, soul, funk and rock into a bootyshakin' mix that reaches into the heart, body, and soul of the audience. In the early 90s, when bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone were kings of the funk/rock world, the true vibe was underground; the dark reflection that moved the masses of the Bay Area. During that time, the band members performed with local groups like The Mo'fessionals, Alphabet Soup, Digital Underground, Los Angelitos, Fungo Mungo, and Primus, who collectively made waves that still influence much of what is considered "new" music today. Now Otis Goodnight is following that tradition by bringing the same energy back, guaranteed to get people thinking, feeling, and moving. Recently the band has been rocking audiences on both sides of the SF Bay Area, playing the S.F. Bay area circuit with Stymie and the Pimp Jones Luv Orchestra, Orixa, The Soul of John Black, Felonius, and Alphabet Soup, and has just released their self-titled debut CD, produced by Grammy Award-winning Producer Jason Stokes (Atliens/Outkast 1999) and Christian Powell of Wintermusik!.
