J. Pigg is an up and coming artist out of Santa Rosa, CAlifornia(Northern Cali)who has already made a name for himself throughout Northern California. A college graduate from Chico State, he began rapping at 16 with other local artists. By the age of 20 he, I2K, B-Lee and DJ Marvel had started the group The Hooliganz, out of Chico California, and began to record his first solo album. Heavely influenced by music throughout his childhood, he took to 70's funk and soul largely because of his father. His younger brother began to make beats using live instruments which led J. to discover a new sound unlike most west coast rap. Through much trial and error, he found a sound to compliment his personality very well. Always a laid back, and a humble person, his raps began to come across the same way with a beautiful blend of funk and hip-hop. With the release of his first solo joint (Brief History) he is trying to bring a new music out of the west. One that anyone can listen to regardless of age, race, or gender. Labeled as "Conscious Rap" or "Feel Good Music" he continues to impress others with his versatility and creativity.
