Jerry Adams is a vigorous young man who is full of life. At the age of 50, he not only focuses on his music, but his family as well. With eight children, he is believes in the old time family value. Born and raised in the dirty south, he credits his parents who were both singers in their own rights. His mother Ruby Guyton Adams singed in church choirs and his father, Odell Adams came from a musical family who led the south in gospel groups across the south. Singing and dancing in talent shows, Jerry Adams remembers crafting his talented in the baking hot cotton fields of Shelby, North Carolina. He’d often dreamed of becoming a singer, songwriter and musician and joins the likes of Otis Redding, Marvin Gay, Luther Vandros, and Elvis Pressley. Crooning with his sultry, soulful voice, Adams believes that is style of singing is a blend of R&B, blues, and country. Adams calls his style of music, “brown eyed country soulâ€. His major musical influences ranges from The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knights, Marvin Gay, Otis Redding, as well as Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder , Michael Jackson, Luther Vandros, Percy Sledge, Wilson Pickett, Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, and The Rogers Brothers, and numerous others whose sounds and styles are as seasoned Adams’s own creative style. Even though, still developing, Adams has a sense that he has a handle on the kind of “brown eyed country soulâ€, sound that for now exemplify who he is. He had a goal of putting together a CD for the past twenty years. With devotion and hard work, Adams has managed to produce his first CD with three original tracks. Since that time he has had the opportunity to appear at a local talent show that imitates American Idol, “Cleveland County Idol, where he performed several of his the songs. With the release of this CD “This Is Jerryâ€, Adams looks forward to making his second full length CD, with a crossover of soul, R&B, and little of “brown eyed country soulâ€, which will clearly displays Adams growth in both his songwriting and vocals. Adams doesn’t act as if he has just arrived; he merely hopes that he and his music are on the road to success. Adams has much more work to do in attaining is song writing, singing, and guitar playing, he doesn’t know where all this take him, but he believes in his mind and soul that he was born to be singer and to perform. Adams believes that music should be sexy and soulful, as well as inspiring. It should reach deep into the heart and soul and bring out those unseen emotions.
