If the 3 strikes, you’re out rule applied to more than baseball, we’d never hear from Karmen Michael. But it doesn’t and he’s far from out of the Game. He’s created his own playing field with his music. Choosing to confront the issue that many black artists shy away from, Karmen Michael steps up to the mic boldly, firmly, and with something to say! â€If we can’t accept our differences, then there is no room for love!†That is the hook from Karmen’s newly released single on Kreative Records. Like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, Karmen’s is the voice of his generation. With a strong message of love in a time of war and devastation, Karmen is not only a messenger, he is the message. “Who better than me? I am a black man in America. I grew up in Texas where racism and discrimination are not hidden. I have seen and experienced discrimination from all sides, especially within the black community. Yet what others thought would break me, (all of the†haterageâ€) only helped to give me the strength and courage to stand here today.†Karmen Michael was raised alongside four siblings amidst the humble backdrop of Texas. But at a time when most kids are out playing, Karmen was dreaming of a better life for his family. Karmen found solace in music using the family coffee table as an imaginary piano, he dreamed of being an artist. Through it all, he continued to dream. At 19-years-old, with a beautiful voice and a few dollars in his pocket, Karmen said goodbye to his family, and to his grandmother, who instilled within him a strong work ethic and a passion for music, and eventually found himself in Harlem, where so many other music legends began their journey. On March 1, 2005, Karmen released his debut CD, “FREEâ€. He created and distributed it through his own indie label, Kreative Records. Although it helped establish him a strong following, Karmen still felt something was missing. In November of 2005, while on vacation in the Bahamas, Karmen said it all became clear. “God spoke to me on the beach. My purpose is to use his music to help others in need...†So Karmen has set forth on a journey. “It is my desire that my music gives some validation to people whom are overlooked and cast aside.
