Uptown Local is a nucleus of four members whose music is equal parts of Funk, Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Jazz, Fusion and other popular styles. They arrange vocal songs, straight ahead instrumentals, or combine both. Their songs are generally positive in nature and their lyrics can be introspective or humorous. Expect funky polyrhythmic drumming, fat-bottomed bass, electric guitar with rhythmic chop and expressive soloing, and smooth vocals. You will hear steady grooves, or arrangements with shifting structures and time signatures.
