Modern Man is home grown: a cd produced in a basement by someone who knows nothing about producing music. It's a solo
project in every sense of the word, for the only one that worked on it and that is to blame for any of the many imperfections that exist in it is yours truly. It sticks out like a red headed stepchild amongst the slick products that are available for purchase by the sophisticated listeners that surf the web searching for the next messiah.
And yet, in spite of itself, I felt compelled to release it. This was the only representation I could come up with in all the years of writing on napkins and matchbook covers, and recording on pocket cassettes while fantacizing arrangements with musicians that might one day transform these bits and pieces into masterpieces. It is the culmination of compromise between raising a family and pursuing a dream. It is what it is and nothing more, and I've come to the conclusion that that's alright.

This compilation of material has been synthetically colored to broaden it's appeal. Most of the material was conceived of in the warm, familiar setting of an accoustic guitar/vocal format, but I felt that I could reach more listeners, especially younger ones, if I added an element they could relate to in my songs. So that's what i did. I mixed hip hop, techno, and dance to what were previously "unplugged" versions of my songs, and came up with this rather unique sounding groove that I really haven't been able to define. The fact that I can't play any of the instruments that would give my songs a band feel to them made my decision to go synthetic a no brainer. The reaction to this hybrid genre has been both hot and cold.
Mix in the fact that my vocals are in the "you either love it or hate it" category, and you start to wonder why I even put this cd up for sale. The truth is, if you look past whatever flaws you perceive, you will find genuinely honest and relevant songs about life and love, and the darkness that surrounds them. This is a soul searching experiment by someone who's not affraid of a mountain of criticism...as long as there are a few who are deeply affected by the music. And if you are one of the ones who genuinely digs what I'm doing, don't be ashamed. You're not alone. I've posted songs on nearly every site available to the indie artist, and have realized the pleasantly surprising success of my tracks on several sites. "That's All I Gotta Say" and "Bombs Fallin' Outta the Sky" have been featured tracks of the day on Garageband.com...CCC has reached #1 in it's genre on mPulse.com...and "Bombs..." has reached #1 on MP3Songs.org.uk's Top 40 Chart. So although I'm not quite sure of what it is, something is going on here, and it involves at least as much positive as it does negative, which is why ultimately, I feel very blessed to have been able to offer this work out to the buying public. If you are one of those that it touches, please dig down deep in your pockets, and support my effort...it's not the money I need as much as the thought that the songs are worth buying.
peace...
