Red Rock Records and Complex Corporation are proud to announce the release of the soundtrack CD of Off the Charts: The Song Poem Story, the acclaimed documentary feature from director Jamie Meltzer. The release coincides with the Jan 27th release of the bonus-packed DVD of the film from Shout! Factory.

Off the Charts: The Song Poem Story, which premiered in a national broadcast on PBS' Independent Lens series, is a feature-length documentary about the sometimes unsettling but always fascinating world of the song-poem industry. In this little-known subculture, ordinary people send in their heartfelt, but often bizarre, poems to companies that-for a fee-turn them into full-fledged musical productions. The New York Observer called the film "Hilarious", The Hollywood Reporter called it "Extraordinarily kooky", and Kevin McDonough of United Features Syndicate raved: "Chances are you've never seen anything like this strange, funny, sad, and completely spellbinding documentary...If you appreciate American pop-culture in all of its quirky permutations don't dare miss this."

The soundtrack CD features liner notes written by Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller, and contains songs from the film and fascinating snippets of dialogue separating the tracks. Songs include the classic song-poems "Non-Violent Taekwando Troopers", "I'm a Ginseng Digger", "Annie Oakley", "Blind Man's Penis", and "Jimmy Carter Says Yes!"

To celebrate the CD and DVD release, the filmmakers will be kicking off a national song-poem tour, called "The Song-Poem Experience". This traveling event will include screenings of the film and music from the film played by local bands at each tour stop. The tour kicks off in New York City on Feb 14th with legendary band NRBQ playing an all song-poem set with guests from the film. Other stops on the tour include: Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland OR, and Seattle.

The CD will be widely available online starting February 15th, and is available now at the Red Rock Records website : www.redrockrecords.com
