"4th Floor Philosophy" is the first full studio album from MC and performance poet Attic. The disc is a passionate mix of poetry and hip-hop accompanied by saxophone, guitar, smooth beats and stunning R&B vocals. Attic is one of New York City's most heralded up and coming young poets. He has won slam after slam at the world-famous Nuyorican Poets Café, been published in literary journals and anthologies, and been asked to perform everywhere from Ivy League Universities to state prisons. Attic has shared the stage with performers like Miguel Algarin (founder, Nuyorican Poets Café), Daniel Beatty (of HBO's Def Poetry Jam), Willie Perdomo (of HBO's Def Poetry Jam) and platinum recording star Kanye West (Rocafella/Def Jam). A dynamic performer, Attic's unique mix of spoken-word, hip-hop and monologue has been entertaining and challenging audiences for years. His work, as hilarious as it is heart-touching, deals with everything from parenting to politics, but often focuses on the difficult issues surrounding love-making, misogyny and sexual assault. Although he's only nineteen, Attic is already a force on the New York and New Jersey slam scene. Among countless slam titles, he is a two-time Grand Slam Semi-Finalist at the world-famous Nuyorican Poets Café, the 2003 New Jersey Poetry in the Park slam champion, and, as the top-scorer and co-champion of the UrbanWordNYC Grand Slam, he is (unofficially) the top poet under 20 in all of New York City. He has given featured performances at prominent New York City venues like the Bowery Poetry Club and the Cornelia Street Café and graced the mic at the Urban Word Café (Trenton, NJ), and the award-winning Mercer County Late Night Series, which he was also given the honor of hosting in August, 2003.
