Cheryl left her 13-year career as a national touring stand-up comic in 1995 to write a solo show, "not a nice girl". In the 10 years since then, she completed that show, with successful runs in LA, NY and Ft. Collins, CO, and has become a respected acting coach and producer of solo shows in NYC. She is artistic director of the NY Solo Play Lab, Sola Voce:Estrogenius at ManhattanTheatreSource and co-artistic director of the Midtown International Theatre Festival. In October of 2005, she opened her own space, Stage Left Studio, where she teaches workshops. In January of 2006 she finished creating a boutique theater in the space, which seats 24 and where she produces solo shows. Cheryl teaches writing, acting and comedy workshops in NY, LA, Chicago, and Denmark and is the long-time assistant to nationally-acclaimed acting coach Carol Fox Prescott. She is active in women's causes, as an organizer of V-Day Events and an advisory board member of ARIA, Awareness of Rape and Incest through Art, and serves as a keynote speaker at universities on women's issues. She is currently co-writing, with Rod Menzies, a play called "Arturo's Window" based on the true life story of John Jerome, and putting finishing details on a playwriting book, both to be completed in the spring of 2006. She is a contributing writer to "The Soul of the American Actor", Glenn Alterman's "Creating Your Own Monologue" and a member of the Dramatists Guild. She teaches four workshops, on Body Language, Writing, Stand-up Comedy and Solo Shows, in her studio, Stage Left, in New York City. In addition, she directs the solo show artists Cyndi Freeman, River Huston, Beth Bongar, Estelle Campagna, and Susan Little.
