Smokey Joe grew up at 554 Harrison Street in Calumet City, Illinois. He came from beautiful parents, Catherine and Joseph W. Throughout his life, there were many ups and downs, but no changes could be made until he decided to change his life for himself. He started to change his life through a twelve-step program. He is now clean, going on 21 years today. Bev Hockberger convinced him to make it happen, and people, just maybe, he needed help. In his lifetime, Smokey had some successes, such as entering Mr. Illinois twice, but ladies and gentlemen, the most success Smokey has had was with the 12 step program. The music career, of the soft spoken work of life he is going to try to bring everybody, is not only about him, it's about you, Myra, Jerry, Jake, Clara, Pastor Singleton, Leon Q.
