This is a collection of edited highlights from nearly forty hours of interviews with supporters, young and old, male and female who make it their regular duty to support Brentford FC, “the Beesâ€. With a hundred years of tenancy at Griffin Park, in Brentford, the Gunnersbury Park Museum have created an exhibition of artefacts, memorabilia and, in this CD, stories of times gone by, memorable matches, favourite players, and hopes for the future, all in the words of Brentford FC supporters. As the interviewer on this project I was enthralled at stories of supporters watching games through fog and cigarette smog - the sound of big boots on heavy leather footballs – memories of promotion success and bitter disappointment. As you will hear on this CD, the supporters I spoke to have a great affection for the Club and players and although they all have very different views on how to run a team, they also believe in Brentford FC’s role as a focus for community and friendship. I hope you will agree with me that this is a fitting and living tribute to Brentford FC, Griffin Park and its unique, wonderful supporters.
