It hurts and it hurts real good." - Eliot Popkin, The Muse's Muse SCOTT TURCHIN left his home in New York's Queens Borough on a "mission from God": to go to California to create a unique blend of Southern roots rock and reggae music, with a feel for blues, jazz, samba and other World musics, expressing the early influences of folksingers like The Weavers and Limelighters to poprockers Cheap Trick, The Who, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Elvis (both of 'em), the Beatles, and later on Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff and UB40. With and without his band, THE SCOTT TURCHIN BAND, he has played (on guitar and piano as well as voice) most acoustic venues in the Los Angeles area, including opening for Harry Dean Stanton at The Mint, doing shows at Rusty's, The Gig, LunaPark and Scruffy O'Shea's, as well as acted in television, films, voiceover and stage. He is proud to release his first CD: SCOTT TURCHIN, a cool collection of "live" studio takes which CDBABY gave its "Editor's Choice" in both Reggae and Roots Rock! Scott and his band can be seen at various venues in the Los Angeles area in 2003 while he puts together the second CD.
