The 2 brothers with a chip on their shoulders, have brought Rock 'n Roll back to America. No bitch-boy band here or leather pant wearing hippies. Just straight forward, ass kicking anthems of American pride. "We say the things that Americans really think but are afraid to say about society", says Russ(Bass & vocal). Founded in 1993, Howitzer has been constantly recording in their studio and playing the occassional live show in South Florida. Their aggressive blend of hardcore, punk and Oi has caused many a fight in the local dives, and that's just fine with them. "If a fight breaks out, it's usually because someone's girl got grabbed or something, or some bone head spills someones drink. We get paid the same $30 bucks either way", explains Jay(guitar, vocal, drums). Thier music has been compared to the late 70's sound of punk mixed with Boston hardcore(Slapshot, ITI, Eye for an Eye) And that makes sense, seeing they were born and raised on the streets of New Bedford, Massachusettes. "We relocated to Florida 11 years ago because the fishings better here. Sure there's no cod or stripped bass, but once your on to a tarpon or giant snook, you can't deny that feeling." The line up of the band has changed through the years like the tide. Originally, it was the brothers and cousin Dana on drums. Then Freddy, a 6'4 ex-Brazilian soccer player stepped in and took over the skins. "He's been great, he's our South American ambassador. We're writting new material now for our next release, coming out in 2003", says Russ, "They love this music in Brazil." Both Jay and Russ have filled in on drums on a few of these songs, but Fred is the man for play. Then there is Lance,(lead guitar) who is currently in the band Wallop, but sits in when needed. "We've never lost touch with any of our ex-players, we're kind of like a big disfunctional family." "We have a moral obligation to our fans to never let them down and put out shit we don't beleive in. We are the voice of the American youth that is tired of being force-fed corporate so called 'punk'. If they don't like it, go listen to the Offspring."
