Vicky Taytro was born in the United States, but moved to Quebec as a child, where she began mating differing cultures, recognizing early on that blending disparate things is the challenge of sound.

A distinctive resonance rounded the timbre of her voice. Perhaps naturally, her show business career began with acting: first a SitCom Pilot for "The Perfect Team" and small roles in film, including a part in the 2001 movie Le Ciel Sur La Tete", directed by Andre Melancon. Next came musical theatre with the Quebec City Art Company. People noticed the voice. Then Shania Twain came to town and invited Quebec City to vote for one local singer to join her on stage. The votes for Vicky overwhelmed the switchboards at 98.9 CHIK-FM; they declared an early winner.

In 2002 Vicky stayed with the country music format, performing throughout Quebec and occasionally in Florida . Vicky was a natural at thrilling a crowd, but it was all too pleasant, too conforming and formulaic. The format didn't reflect her experience, and didn't address the contradictions life had forced her to synthesize.

Then the production/songwriting team of Vincenzo Thoma and Simona Peron got Vicky into a studio in Montreal and recorded the song "Keep On Living". The song represented her life. Vicky was unbounded. This first collaboration with Thoma & Peron yielded nothing short of a sonic punch in the mouth, a declaration of freedom from lies and falsified love.

Vicky kept working with her new producers, recording "Summer Of Our Love" and "Eyes" in quick succession. Through her manager in the United States , Vicky was introduced to Deb Ferrara, an ASCAP Popular Music award winner in 2003 and 2004, who quickly penned some songs for Vicky to record. Ms. Ferrara, recently spotlighted in the September 25, 2004 edition of BillBoard Magazine, proudly singled out Vicky as one of the artists recording her material.

Vicky's sound and image are out of the blue new and instantly recognizable. Future stars like Vicky don't grow on you; they're unforgettable out of the gate.
