This disc features new collaborator, Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, Beer For Dolphins, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, XTC), along with Michael Manring (universal bass flame thrower) and long time Sadhappy drummer and producer, Evan Schiller. You might call “OUTERSPACES†post-progressive or disturbingly beautiful instrumental rock... Perhaps a mixture of later daze Squarepusher with a dose of early King Crimson, add a dash of 21st century Ventures, puree it in a blender and pour over an 18†subwoofer. Then you might be in the same solar system... Or, maybe not. Sadhappy began way back in 1989 as a Seattle based improv duo, over time becoming a collective of cutting edge musicians, including bass wiz Paul Hinklin, sax freak SKERIK (Critters Buggin’, Les Claypool, Charlie Hunter), guitarist Bill Frisell, Schiller, Manring, and now Keneally. This is the most “produced†sounding Sadhappy disc, with many of the songs having an abstract, harmonically dense, remixed, multi-layered approach that makes more sense with each listen..
