This version of Elara Luna features the songwriting and lyrics of Leah Kane. Kane and guitarist Brandon Burney began working together in 2002, and in 2004 formed Elara Luna with drummer Lee Simpkins and bassist Tim Wright. The Toy Doll EP was recorded over the summer of that year, and it is a strong first statement from this band. Kane's insightful lyrics paint clear pictures, made even clearer by Burney's clever use of the stereo field. Kane left Elara Luna in January 2005 to further pursue a solo project; the remaining members will continue to write despite Leah's departure.
