When Brindle first hit the stage in 1998,it was a much different outfit than the hard-hitting outfit of today. Armed with just an acoustic guitar and a bass (that's all they owned), Brindle's folk rock style saw them quickly start to garner a reputation as a band to watch. But that all changed when late in 1999, Brindle was joined by drummer Simon Walker. A lover of post-punk artrock, Simon encouraged the band to ditch their folk roots and test the waters of a completely different musical style. Since then, the band has recreated themselves several times, experimenting with different styles and dynamics that have seen the development of a band, both secure and confident in the music they play. Drawing on influences ranging from Patti Smith to Sonic Youth, The Pixies and ....The Trail of Dead, the Brindle sound is passionate, powerful and intense. Over the past five years, the Brisbane quartet has independently released three EPs (Brindle, Stories and Classification), and the single (Catch/Candles) through FunkFolk/MRA, with each release securing national airplay and rave reviews around Australia. Now, after an extended break to write and record their debut (as yet untitled) album, Brindle have emerged full of energy and with new material that finds the band at a new creative peak. And the first taste of that new sound comes with the single, Fight U For It. Fronted by Deb Suckling's emotive whirlwind of a voice, and built on a thumping rhythm section, Fight You For It is quite simply Brindle's most ferociously dynamic work yet. Recorded at Brisbane's Black Box Studio with producer on the rise, Emerson Bavinton, Fight You For It takes Brindle's sound to a new level.
