Astral is a San Francisco-based indie/dream-pop band. Blending elements of shoegaze wall of sounds with post-punk minimalism, Astral weaves a soundscape of texture and melody in a less-than-rosey-colored world..."My Bloody Valentine meets Joy Division"- Amoeba Music Only Sometimes charted on American college radio stations such as WMBR (Cambridge, MA) at #30 and WPRB (Princeton, NJ) at #34 in May of 2003. The first edition limited to 200 copies was sold out and the reissue is now available here. This EP was recorded in 2001 and released in 2002. The studio tracks were recorded on 24 track analog tape, and engineered by Jim Sweeney of Glasstown and American Trash. Astral performances usually incorporate an instrumental improvisation. Included on this EP only, Catalyst, a live improvised piece was performed was recorded at a performance in San Francisco in 2001.
