"wydown has the perfect sound that the 21st century is ready for! I think they would appeal to those who enjoy the sound of Coldplay, Modest Mouse, The Darkness and Scissor Sisters. There is a trend heading back to the melodic rock/great musicianship of the 70s that is going on right now and wydown fits right in. (Hear Me) is reminiscent of the 70s band 10CC and their tune "I'm Not In Love". This song is eerie, moody and melodic as well. (Our Stand) has a slightly retro sound that reminds me of the Beatles version of "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds".

Welcome to wydown - four guys from St. Louis dedicated to making great music full of tight harmonies and intricate guitars - sometimes primal, sometimes brooding, sometimes sentimental. The inspiration and influences stretch deep into the ocean of musical wonder, with every song returning to a familiar, yet refreshing place. Band comparisons from listeners range widely, even song to song - Radiohead meets Simon Garfunkel meets King's X meets Neil Young - at times a solid, art-rock frenzy, at times a humble statement, at a times a rock opera. Deliberate or not, wydown takes the "putting music into a box" analogy and turns it upside down. Each song is a new surprise, wrapped in quality.

After three years of regional touring wydown continues to search far and wide for musical outlets. Songs from "Rock Ends", released in, April 2003, have received airplay in St. Louis and Las Vegas, as well as being chosen for independent theater and film soundtracks. The group has recently completed a 4 song demo and is recording additional songs to document its development and growth, ready for any new listener. If it's a coffee shop, festival or rock club, wydown's intriguing songwriting offers sonic delight to classic rock buffs, art-rock philosophers and brit-pop fiends alike.

"Welcome to a spirited rock odyssey," it says on the sleeve of wydown's EP, a statement that, I have to say is pretty accurate...The vocals can be at once powerful and vulnerable, sounding not unlike a tougher, stronger Tim Finn...wydown is onto something good, and all signs point to the fact that it will only get better."
