THE ARIELS The Ariels formed in 1978 when a group of friends in Eureka Springs, Arkansas discovered how much they loved making music together. The group derived their name from a 1950's British motorbike, another passion shared by the founders. Over the years some of the faces of changed, but the joy of playing is as fresh as ever. Recently, the Ariels were named "2004's Musicians of the Year" by the city of Eureka Springs and "Eureka's Favorite Band" in 2002. Their reputation as a party band with a diverse set list, plus a strong local fan base make the Ariels a favorite for clubs, Eureka Springs Jazz Fest, and Eureka Springs Blues Fest. Tony Walker, Pat Griffith, David Burks, and Karen FitzPatrick are the Ariels. The artful percussion of Tony Walker skillfully drives the band through hard-hitting rock numbers and soulful slow Blues with cool intensity. He can always be found lending a drumming hand for benefits. Undoubtedly his generosity combined with his talent gained him the award of Eureka's Musician of the Year 2002. Bass player, Pat "Bear" Griffith must have forty fingers to deliver the irresistible funky groove that fills the dance floor. Bear lends his sincere voice on some original Ariels' favorites, and harmonies on others. David Burks delivers plenty of punch with his powerful voice, energy-charged guitar playing, and when he takes harmonica solos he has the audience's full attention. David's hillbilly upbringing lends authenticity to his vocals, but his early musical influences blend together to create spicy samba feeling grooves as well as full tilt boogies. Add to this power trio the sultry vocals of Karen FitzPatrick who sparkles with boundless energy and uncontrollable stage presence. The Ariels released "All THE BEST DAYS" in 2000, a collection of original favorites. Most recently the band produced "MAXED OUT" at Winterwood Studios - a mix of Rock and Blues originals, classic and current favorites. The Ariels obvious love of what they are doing spreads like wildfire through the crowd. No doubt this good feeling is what keeps people coming back for another wild Ariels ride.
