If you like straight ahead, bare bones, good old-fashioned rock n’ roll, look no further! The second album by The Anonymous, ten years in the making, has all of the ingredients of a classic. Dirty Secrets, comprised of tasty licks from Brian Higgs guitar punctuated by a rock solid rhythm section made up of drummer Dave Fox and bassist Tom Szynborski, creates a rocket ride through the life and times of a band on the stage that most of us call life. Slugging it out in the southern Maryland music scene for more that 15 years, this album documents the highs and lows of an uncompromising Rock n’ Roll band that can only be defined as the independent artist.
From “What it Takes” a tongue-in-cheek, Stones’esque rocker that pokes some of society’s more motivated individuals square in the eye to the soulful “Let it Play”, the then and now of a Rock n’ Roller’s life, the album represents a musical chronicle of the human condition. The music is energetic, and unrelenting; The guys have been slipping “Dirty Secrets”, “Rock Till I’m Dead” and “Odie’s Song”, a dedication to a long lost friend, into their repertoire for several years and watching the crowd turn upside down like they were listening to a Bad Company classic. Several newer tunes including “Cyberjunkie” and “Slippin Away” are soon to become Anonymous classics. If you want a contemporary track with plenty of attitude song track 13 “Trenchmouth” is a must for your Ipod collection.
Track for track Dirty secrets is an excellent addition to any Rock n’ Roll lover’s arsenal.
