Sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll - the mantra remains the same, but Thee Snuff Project's debut album breathes new life into it. Loud, raw, aggressive rock like this is rarely played with such intensity and precision. Vocalist Scott Taylor's swagger and snarl are perfectly complemented by the overdriven, fuzzed-out assault that emerges with occasional psychedelic undertones out of Damien Taylor's guitar. Bassist Mike Dugan and drummer Ryan Hicks make up an explosive rhythm section, keeping the raucous energy in line and then suddenly switching gears to drive it perilously close to the edge of oblivion. Brash, cynical, and with attitude to spare, Thee Snuff Project is the perfect antidote to whatever illusion plagues you.
