Spook the Horse is: Grant Burton (lead vocals, guitar), brian pake (guitar, vocals), Brian Mura (keys), matt ralston (bass), and brian papenfuss (drums). Now living in Seattle, all five members have been close friends since they met back in Bellingham, WA during their high school days. They have played in various bands together for more then ten years, and formed Spook the Horse in the summer of 2003. Each member brings a unique quality and personality to the band, resulting in a diverse sound often explained as The Tindersticks on steroids falling down stairs or The Velvet Underground, only using cocaine instead of heroin. With multiple songwriters it’s not always certain as to what direction Spook the Horse will travel, but be certain that anything we play we make sure to rock. The self-released, self-titled debut EP will be released December 20, 2005, and is already getting lots of airplay on KEXP.
