Mission Statement: Portico77 believe that it is imperative for everyone to understand that they are not just another “rock band†– they are a ministry. Sometimes in the music industry, despite it being Christian or Secular, it can be hard to always stay focused. That is why prayer and reflection is so important to all members. It’s not just about the music. Coming from different denominational backgrounds, there is a real sense of strength within this band. They immerse themselves as much in prayer, the bible and thanks as they do in songwriting. Although Portico77’s music is aimed primarily at youth and admit that is can sometimes be pretty loud (!), they believe that there is definitely a relevant message for everyone, regardless of beliefs or disbeliefs, age or gender. As Christians within the commercial and youth orientated music industry, Portico77 are conditioned to work even harder in bringing Christ’s messages into the lives of youth with their music. Their aim is to do this through contemporary scriptural and personal based music about our Lord, Jesus Christ. About The Band: `Fundamentally, it was supposed to be a twelve month stint. The band would get together once every four weeks and belt out a mixture of revamped old hymns and praise and worship songs for our youth ministry. Eight years down the track with three original members still on board, and the addition of the effervescent "Goder Brothers", Shawn on lead guitar and Daryl on bass, Portico77 just keeps evolving and growing, spiritually and musically. In early 2005, the band represented Australia in Koln, Germany for the twentieth World Youth Day music and cultural festival. Over 1.5 million Christian youth from all around the world journeyed to the festival and partook in this collosal event.
