After the Golden Age of 60s and 70s french pop, represented by pop icon Serge Gainsbourg or the great lyricist Jacques Brel, French pop music has become dominated by mainstream pop with silly lyrics and poorly-arranged, self-indulgent folk songs. PORCO ROSSO holds apart from this musical nightmare, bringing their french literary roots up to catchy pop or truly melancholic melodies. Created in 2001 by Yann GIRAUD (vocals, guitars), Stéphane PEREZ (bass, backing vocals) and Vincent CHARLES-GERVAIS (lead guitar) , PORCO ROSSO is a blend of various influences from french literature to british and american pop-rock. They recorded their first E.P. in 2003, though the line up was made complete in 2004 by the arrival of David ANDRADE (drums). Des Jours Meilleurs is an original work with beautifully crafted pop songs, somewhere between Radiohead, The Kinks, Serge Gainsbourg and Wilco. After several concerts in Paris, they decided to record their new E.P., Porcography, which should be released summer 2006. Check out the artist's website: http://www.porco-rosso.com Track List: 1.
