POPJOY was born in late 1998 when Sarah (lead singer) left the army to focus on her music career. From day one the purpose was to entertain and make sure everyone's eyes were glued to the stage. They wanted the experience of POPJOY to be one of joy, fun, excitement and great music. The name was meant to reflect the experience "when you see POPJOY it's like popping a pill of joy". POPJOY is a fulltime band, performing 3 - 4 nights a week. They have independently toured Finland and continue to travel Canada doing shows. Writing original material is the main focus of the band right now. Recently they have acquired professional management to help guide the way. On stage, POPJOY is a wonderful rush of energy and passion - with drums thumping, guitars growling, limbs flailing, and Mohawks proudly pointing skyward. The sound is fresh - the show is KILLER!
