Mondo are a four piece alternative post rock band from London, England. They have been making their own pathways through the Alt-Rock scene for a number of years now.... Having released three e.p.s on their own label, Moof Records, we present to you their second long playing release... Before The Fall. Ripitup 5 STARS More than just a CD, this is a work of art, beautiful, fragile and addictive. Before The Fall is the second album for the British based group. It pulls you in from the very first riff of Slowstar and holds you in its grip until the last chords of Big Seven. The songs combine beautifully layered, well crafted songs, with a certain amount of angst and emotion and it works brilliantly. Some of the tracks remind me of our very own Jakob, with textured guitar noise taking precedent over lyrical content, although those tracks are nicely tempered by the more lyrically based songs. Mondo seem capable of producing amazing, hook-laden rock songs like Something Else and Against the Numbers and equally good slower tracks like Slowstar and Avoid the Void making it a rewarding and enjoyable listen. ***** (5 stars) Lyndon Walker Logo ......Repeated plays will reward and you'll soon find the likes of instrumental seven-minute opener 'Slowstar' and the more conventional (as post-rock goes) soundscapes of 'This Is All Wrong' and 'Las Luces' burrowing their way into your consciousness in ways that a three minute pop song never could. This, we all agree, is a good thing. Adrian Read UNDRGROUND MUSIC SCENE (UK)4.5 Stars Once in a while a CD comes along which is very special indeed. Today is one of those days.
