Singer/songwriter Laura DiStasi moves past sentimentality and cliché into darker, more intimate lyrical spaces with her debut album, Winters Never Quit. Recorded over the course of a year in Boston and released in the fall of 2005, the album is filled with both the vibrancy and isolation of city life. DiStasi's musicality is evident as the songs easily move from organic arrangements to electronica and mix infectuous melodies with honest, intimate lyrics. Her songs pluck moments from the everyday, holding up promise in one hand and heartbreak in the other. As a result, DiStasi shines in her music not only as a gifted songwriter, but also as a poet. Her writing hits close to the bone and is heavy with imagery. The music feels its way through impressionistic landscapes, exploring the complexity and richness of relationships. Her songs capture moments, nostalgic yet hopeful, because anything worth lamenting is, once was, or could be beautiful. Check out the artist's website: http://www.lauradistasi.com Track List: 1.
