Large Mound form the hard rockin' arse of Ireland's thriving independent music community. Raised On Rock is their first album and follows up on a number of 7" releases and compilation contributions. Raised on Rock features: Cover by Texan artist Dave Ford. A drawing made by a truck. Album title from a song by 80's metallers Keel. Permission granted by Ronnie Keel. And the enhanced cd has the video for their first single I Thought You Were Dead. The Mound specialise in stripped down, noisey, delightful yet intoxicating chunks of downstroke rock. Like Thin Lizzy's mix of power and melody, Large Mound signal where they came from, but sound like no-one else. Classic Black Sabbath, fuzzy Sebadoh, soloin' Dinosaur Jr, rockin' AC/DC all add up to a unique blend of axe mayhem. Large Mound's discography is detailed in their band website http://www.groov.ie/largemound however it's at the bands .com site that the fun starts. Their year long project, 2002 The Year Of Rock, tempts visitors to download a song a month along with the page of a Large Mound calander. "We have our regular band website already so when we bought the .com we wanted to do something a bit different with it" states Anthony "We're just presenting the mp3 format in a more interesting and fun way. Using the 12 months of the year as a release schedule is nothing new but I don't think it's been done this way before." Check out www.largemound.com for the most original site on the net!
