Fallen Roadies have gathered diverse influences from classic rock, pop, blues, jazz and island music to create a 14-track CD that moves from ballads to pop to straight-ahead rock while still maintaining a sound that is distinctively Fallen Roadies. The songs from "Flowering Diesel" feature original melodies, tight harmonies, thoughtful lyrics and solid instrumental work. Tony Thomas's tasty lick-laden guitar work, set against the backdrop of Erik Kjelland's acoustic rhythm guitar, reflects his training as a jazz musician while still retaining the impact of rock music. Drummer Mike Steckling is adept at creating a variety of rhythms to reflect the feel of the tunes Kjelland and Art Ranney write; Ranney's bass parts are an integral part of the songwriting process and range from lyrical to funky.
