In the fall of 2000, drummer Ariel Munoz, Guitarist - David Diaz & then Bassist - Albert Denis started to hang out and jam together locally every Friday night. After a few weeks of just playing together, they decided to see if they could find a singer that would compliment their hard rock style. After a few unsuccessful try-outs, Ariel called vocalist - Alfred Batista who he knew could sing but wasn't sure if Al was up to singing/screaming hard rock. To their surprise, Alfred showed that Friday night and the group stayed 'till 4:00 the next morning, singing, writing, and rocking! They had written 10 songs that night and were still geared up for more! They knew there was something special happening and wanted to be part of it. For 1 year they rehearsed every week to get as tight as they could writing original music. In 2001, they formed the band, CROWND, which is now known for their live and in-your-face original songs and passionate worship! In 2002 they played in over 50 venues of which included Autumn Blaze Festival in Zarephath, NJ to a crowd over 15,000. Their fan base has grown tremendously over the past 2 years only a testament to what they're bringing to the table. In 2003, the boys won a record deal through a nationwide competition in Nashville, TN. They are currently signed with Level Six Recordings. They recorded their first CD at the Sound Kitchen in the "Big Boy" room. The CD is scheduled to be nationally released in the Spring of 2004. David Huitz the current bass player joined the band in 2004 and has helped to form the powerful sound of Crownd today. How did they come up with the name CROWND? The lead singer Alfred dreamt they won a award on MTV and when they called their name, the announcer called out "CROWND". Alfred presented the name to the others and it stuck. The band is very sound in their spiritual beliefs and their music reaches those who are in search for something more than what's offered here on earth. The lyrics are written in such a passionate and raw way that you can't help but to be inspired or challenged to find Truth. CROWND's sound has been compared to the likes of POD, Trapt, Papa Roach, Kutless and Limp Bizkit. But they have their own style and original sound.
