Here it is, the lost Sam Bisbee record. Recorded in 1995 and released in 1996 by a distributor that filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy the day the album hit the shelves, this is a record that nobody ever got a chance to hear. Produced by Steve Addabbo (Suzzanne Vega, Sean Colvin) and featuring Keith Golden on bass and Alex Alexander on drums (keith and alex are now Dido's rhythym section) and King Edward Davis on the keyboards... "BISBEE: Snacks BISBEE, fronted by Sam Bisbee, might remind you of the Dave Matthews Band in its mult-iracial lineup and emphasis on folk- and funk-influenced songs. But Bisbee's debut CD, Snacks, focuses on pop and sex, and Sam's voice is more textured than whiny. There's also a lot of humor in Bisbee's songs, such as "Turn Me On," written from the viewpoint of a vibrator, and "P.C. Dominatrix," about politically correct S & M. But these songs aren't all frivolity, as demonstrated by "Middle Of Everywhere," which suggests there are signs of Samuel Beckett in Bisbee's head (now here's a good way to put that English degree to work). "Disposable Love" and "Turn Me On" are the most radio-friendly songs, but don't let that keep you from digging deeper because you won't find any pickled eggs in this fine sampling of Snacks.." - D.
