13 HANDS '" What If Floyd Met Freud? 13 Hands is the brain-child of singer-songwriter and yoga teacher Dalien. Through the use of ground-breaking sampling/loop technology, multi-media and guitar “soundscapingâ€, he has created an amazing texture-rock sound that is a compliment to artists like U2, Dido, Morrissey, Peter Gabriel, and Pink Floyd, to name a few. (What would you sound like if you owned 3000 records) As 13 Hands, Dalien has independently put out four acclaimed releases, one DVD and shared stage with Run DMC, Ani DiFranco, Jimmy Gnecco of Ours, Evan Slamka of Marjorie Fair, Mike Errico, and Paula Cole amongst many other noted national acts and good friends. He created an anti-hunger tour that involved working alongside Hollywood Records and their artist Sheila Nichols. He has toured nationally and has had his music featured many times on the Discovery Channel and in the independent film “Where’s Henry†that received an honorable mention at Sundance. Recently, a good friend in the industry turned him onto a songwriting contest with John Mayer.....so with less than 24 hours to get it done and submitted......he whipped out two amazing song versions of a new song entitled, “Deeperâ€...in which John penned the lyrics and Dalien, the music, co-lyric and vocal melody. His incorporation of looping pedals, lap-top computers, multi-media, animatronics, samplers and other technologies all lend to his massive audio and visual backdrop. “On stage I’ve been referred to as a mad scientist whose functioning like I have 13 hands.....and feet sometimes, as I perform barefoot in order to trigger certain foot-pedals and other props......or I’ll just sing and play acoustic while drumming with my feet on my Cajon, a Brazilian box drum.†THE ORGANIC WONDERBOY OF MUSIC AND YOGA In his hometown, he is known as the "Organic Wonderboy of Music and Yoga". “Mr. 13 Hands†(Dalien) shares a huge passion for yoga and health in addition to his music pursuits. Some of his accomplishments range from writing his own memoir, (How To Become A Rock N’ Roll, Yogi Jedi Knight in Just Twenty Years) to providing music, yoga and meditation in colleges and grade schools, drug and alcohol rehab centers, and terminally ill patients on behalf of the Musicians On Call organization, based in NYC. His commitment to an organic lifestyle, yoga, music and alternative health was born out of a severe childhood health crisis that almost took his life........he’s kind of a Lance Armstrong of Rock comeback story.
