y memories of CrippleKid are positive and many. I had a great time when they played out of town shows with my band and driving around on tour with them watching their van lose its door and then totally breaking down. They didn't find it so funny. I've never met most of the Little Dipper tho they seem nice. Their band is now called THE NATIONALE BLUE and tour somewhat frequently. They insist that I somehow ripped them off. CrippleKid sounds like TRAIL OF THE DEAD, Jawbreaker, Dinosaur Jr, Built to Spill, type of stuff with this urgency to the music and "midwest" vocals like Christie Front Drive. Some of the best drumming I've ever heard. Little Dipper sounds like a poppier, energetic version of the same band. At least that's what everyone says who reviews this. I'd compare them more to more creative Get Up Kids. They say Jawbreaker and Squirrel Bait. "Great stuff! I like these harder, noisy emo bands a lot more than the wussy stuff I've heard. Lots of hard hitting melodies with some calmer, pretty tunes too so it makes for a very well rounded release. You can tell right from the start that this is going to be some powerful stuff. The Cripplekid vocals are full and clear for the most part with a hint of whininess. The music has a scratchy noise factor which gives these guys a distinct sound, and I love it! It gets pretty wild when the songs explode with speed and screaming yet mixes in softer, melodic parts very well. The Little Dipper have a more diverse sound. I'd sum it up as having similar elements to Cripplekid but catchier and with less noise. Each band closes with their softest song which further highlights the similarities/differences. One picks up the pace quickly while the other whispers along while slowly building before hitting and then fading out. Both bands have creative lyrics and show that emo can kick ass!" -Franco, Grub Records "It's a good thing that CRIPPLE KID made it on this CD because they make this CD. Five great songs that remind me of FRICTION, both musically and vocally. Finally there is a new band that makes that over played JAWBREAKER style sound fresh. THE LITTLE DIPPER takes more of a pop approach to the same style of music, not unlike MY PAL TRIGGER. Not bad at all, but then again it's nothing special. Oh yea, I just want to remind you that CRIPPLE KID is an amazing band." -PA, Maximum Rock and Roll Check out the artist's website: http://www.microcosmpublishing.com Track List: 1. As They Lie 2.
