Broadband, the rising death star of New York City's smart-rock scene, bang out metal-infused, progressive indie-core with angular riffs and mind-blowing time changes blanketed by sing-songy screaming matches. Fans love to watch this band play, as bass player Elisha Foley flies up and down the neck picking out oddly-timed, discordant passages. Caryn Havlik wears a shit-eating grin while pounding out feel-good, flailingly eccentric beats. Guitar player Elizabeth Cline is tormented between crunchy metal motifs to anti-ordinary finger pickings. Cline's vocals range from off-key, hair-raising screams to textured, syncopated melodies and are often paired with Havlik's gutteral growl and Foley's girly harmonies.
The band, currently playing live as a power trio, independently released a five-song Labforce EP (mixed at Sony Studios and mastered at DB Plus) in August 2005.
