The Vibrators . . . batteries not included: A rich mixture of musical flavors, much like a simmering Louisiana gumbo. From the moody, New Orleans voodoo-vibe of "Power Over Me", to the raucous, roadhouse sound of "It's Understood", the Vibrators bring an eclectic blend of influences together, ranging from the Texas and Chicago blues, to modern rock'n' roll, and even a taste of jazz/swing. Guitarist Jim Bookter, a native of Louisiana who grew up near the Texas border, brings the influence of the Texas blues to the band. Bassist Jim Simpson (who also plays keyboards and lends backup vocals) is a Chicago native, and spent many of his formative years in the Detroit area. Jim provides the Chicago blues feel combined with a gritty Motor City rock attitude. Butch Golsan, also a Louisiana native, supplies the back-beat backbone of the band, and whose varied influences include the alternative bands of the 1980's to Louisiana cajun and zydeco music. Added to the mix for seasoning are Shannon Williford (front man for the Nashville-based band, Delicious Blues Stew) on harmonica and vocals; Nelson Blanchard (a member of the nationally-known group, LeRoux) on the organ; and Russ Bryant (young jazz sensation and member of the jazz/funk/fusion band, Jive Train) on saxophone.
