The Shanty Band is a homegrown rock and roll band based out of Ithaca, NY via Boston. The four piece feature drums, guitar, keyboard and bass with a healthy dose of harmonizing vocals. The Ithaca College band has moved far beyond the realm of your college band, packing bars and parties from Burlington, VT to Martha's Vineyard, MA for more than a year with their devoted fans. And the Shanty is just getting rolling. A second album is in the works for the upcoming year, and word of mouth is beginning to spread. For a wide variety of original music and tight covers from the 60âs through the present, the Shanty Band live show is an experience. Blending the old soul of Motown with a modern approach to jamming and improvisation, along with a refined helping of straight ahead blues, if you want to hear the Shanty, you better have your dancing shoes.
